Details

Emirates Islamic Bank's Nol card offers one of the highest cashback rates on transportation, including fuel and all forms of public transportation in Dubai, including Abra, with a few caveats.

Earn rate:

10% Cashback on Fuel, including petrol station supermarket, and petrol station car wash, when paid through station terminals. up to AED 75.

10% Cashback on RTA Transport Payment, which includes topping up the Nol chip embedded in the credit card, or any other Nol Card, up to AED 75.
It is important to note, topping up Nol account through EIB app may not qualify for cashback. Use the RTA machines at metro stations to top-up your Nol card.

Pro Tip
:

  1.  Add your EIB Credit card your phone's digital wallet before going to the RTA station. You have to leave your RTA card in the machine until top-up process is complete so it can't be used for payment.
  2. Use your Nol card to pay for Fuel at ENOC, doubling your cashback cap. You can also pay for groceries at Carrefour and a number of merchants listed here, earning 10% cashback.

2.25%
Cashback on international spending except a 0.56% rate in European Economic Area. An up to 2.35% foreign transaction fee applies, making it a OK card for foreign transactions, but given the lower cashback rate on EEA spending, Citi Cashback card a better overall card if you spend a lot in non-AED currencies.

1.25% Cashback
on domestic spending, unless in the following categories: 1% on Groceries, 0.19% on Automobile and Insurance, 0.13% on Education, Telecom and Real Estate, 0.31% on Fast Food Restaurants.
Most cashback credit cards that offer high rate of cashback on specific categories (like 10% on fuel), offer 1% under the "everything else" category. This card offers 1.25%, which is better than most cards, however, it has one of the most extensive exclusion lists. If you tend to spend a lot on "everything else" and you're only interested in cashback cards, Wio Credit offers 2% cashback.

To be eligible for cashback for the month, you must have at least 1,000AED in retail spending (ATM withdrawal, balance transfer etc. does not count). To make a claim, you must have a minimum of 300AED cashback balance, which will be applied to your credit card statement.

Perks:

Cinema Offer: get 2 "buy one get one" tickets at Reel cinemas. A AED 3,000 minimum spend applies.

Xperiance App: Download the app and add your card to avail "buy 1 get 1" offers.

My Take

EIB RTA card offers one of the highest cashback rates on fuel and RTA spending with very few stipulations. Considering it's no annual fee, a minimum AED 1,000 in retail spending and a AED 300 minimum cashback claim requirement, it is very easy to recommend credit card. if you're willing to plan your spending ahead of time to make sure you hit the AED 1,000 mark. However, I think best to have a second credit card for your daily spending and keep this card for Fuel, RTA and all the offers EIB has with different merchants.
